My story
Dare the Impossible Dream
Gianpiero Musso was born January 25 th, 1958 in Toronto, Canada to Italian parents, Natale and Gina Musso. When he was 6 in 1964 his father decided to move back to Piedmont where he was born.
His father started working as “champignons” mushroom grower and Gianpiero had the opportunity to go to work with his father to some of the most beautiful and successful ristorantes in Italy to introduce them to Truffles and other varieties of mushrooms. It was because of this experience and time spent with my father that he came to love the ristorante, wine and gastronomy industry.
In 1974 he intended on furthering his education by attended the cooking school in Agliano and graduate with the title of “chef”. Every Sunday he spent his time in local ristorantes gaining hands on experience. Later he ended up at Ristorante Vittoria in Tigliole d’Asti where he met the owners’ daughter, Alessandra Strocco. Years later they fell in love, got married and ended up ran the ristorante alongside her parents. Now at the helm Gianpiero began to dream of turning it into a success restaurant, and after a few years his dream came true.
He had achieved what only a small percentage of ristorante owners dream of…receiving the coveted “Michelin Star.” He went on to the serve Pope Giovanni Paolo II in Turin during the Ostension of the Shroud. He also made it in the “100 best Italy’s Restaurant” guide and hosted a cooking show on local TV stations RAI and MEDIASET.
In 2001 Gianpiero decide it was time to take his dream to another level so the home he purchased 1979, that was used for storage, was going to be transformed into a hotel. With the help of his family, they relocate Ca’ Vittoria to its new location in this charming 18th century house. He converted it into a boutique hotel with 11 rooms, each with its own unique style and named after the 11 varieties of their favorite flowers that they planet in the Hotels’ gardens. He also started a vegetable garden to have fresh produce on hand. He can still be found tending to his garden today.
His son Massimiliano follows the road he has paved and continues to run Ca’ Vittoria alongside of his wife and mother. It’s apparent that Gianpiero’s fathers strong work ethic and determination has stuck with him all these years and he isn’t stopping any time soon as he prepares to embark on two new businesses in 2024.
